New for NAB 2026: Ortana Media Group Announces Integration with Snicket Labs and Ortana’s Cubix Connect to Deliver Intelligent Media Optimisation Within Orchestrated Workflows

Ortana Media Group today announces a strategic integration with Snicket Labs, bringing advanced content intelligence and video deduplication capabilities into Cubix Connect and the Cubix Connect widget.
The integration combines large-scale media and data orchestration with intelligent duplicate detection, enabling organisations to automate content optimisation directly within their operational workflows.

As broadcasters, production companies, post facilities and enterprise media teams continue to manage rapidly expanding video libraries, duplication and version sprawl remain significant operational and financial challenges. Even in well-structured MAM, DAM or provisioning environments, near duplicate content can silently inflate storage costs, increase AI processing demands and reduce workflow efficiency. This integration is designed to address that issue at the workflow level.

Snicket Labs builds content intelligence software for organisations that create, store or distribute video. Using proprietary fingerprinting technology, its platform identifies duplicate and near-duplicate content at scale, from exact matches to complex derivative versions. At the core of the company is Match, a video deduplication engine designed to tackle “versionitis”,  the accumulation of multiple versions of the same file across systems. By identifying both exact duplicates and nuanced near-duplicates, Match enables organisations to reduce storage and operational costs by up to 60 per cent while maintaining full visibility and control across their media libraries.

Media workflows are becoming increasingly automated, but automation without intelligence can simply accelerate inefficiency. By integrating with Cubix Connect, we’re enabling organisations to embed content intelligence directly into their orchestration layer, reducing waste, controlling version sprawl and ensuring that only valuable, unique content moves through the pipeline. That’s transformational for organisations dealing with fast, growing media libraries, and we’re genuinely excited about the impact this will have.” – Nick Pearce, CRO, Snicket Labs

Ortana Media Group provides media and data orchestration, MAM, DAM and provisioning solutions across a wide range of industries. Through Cubix Connect and its abstracted orchestration engine, Taskflow, organisations can design powerful automated workflows using over 160 API integrations. Cubix Connect can be deployed as a global enterprise service bus or as tightly integrated micro-connections, providing the technology glue to orchestrate and automate complex environments.

Through this integration, Snicket Labs’ content intelligence can now be embedded directly into Cubix workflows, enabling automated deduplication at ingest, during archive migrations, across storage tiers, or as part of AI enrichment pipelines. The Cubix Connect widget allows customers to activate Snicket Labs’ capabilities seamlessly within their existing operational interfaces.

“Cubix Connect is all about giving customers real control in complex environments, not just connecting systems, but making them work smarter together. Bringing Snicket Labs into the ecosystem adds an intelligent layer that helps customers actively refine and optimise their content as it moves through automated workflows. It’s about turning orchestration into optimisation, reducing unnecessary storage, streamlining operations and helping organisations run leaner, more efficient infrastructures.” – Simon Harper – Channel & Partner Manager – Ortana Media Group

Use Case 1: AI Indexing Cost Saving

Despite improvements in GPU-based processing and LLM efficiencies, the cost of indexing your media library at scale with AI engines can be daunting. By combining Match from Snicket Labs with Cubix, you can ensure that you only ever index that scene or piece of video once, despite it existing across multiple assets/sequences/storage locations.
The Cubix orchestration using Match’s fingerprinting data will automatically identify any duplicates and apply the same AI metadata created for the first occurrence of that scene to any duplicates, rather than reindexing it again. Simple, effective, fully automated, and a tangible saving on AI indexing costs.

Use Case 2: Bulk Migration De-Duplication

Cubix allows clients to perform bulk migration from a range of physical broadcast formats (e.g. DigiBeta, HDCAM, D3, etc.) as well as LTO tape formats. Normally, when working with such physical formats, there is a desire to avoid destroying the physical medium – and in the case of broadcast tape formats, the reality is that it has to be assumed the tape is degrading to such an extent that playback won’t be possible again in the future.
Especially with large sports archives, but true for so many more – there is naturally duplication built in. Two copies recorded for backup, same recording captured in the OB truck and by the broadcaster, etc. Whilst it might be possible through metadata to assume duplicates, there is always a risk – especially when different languages are taken into account. Furthermore, how to know which one to keep when it comes to quality? Just because it’s an HD tape doesn’t mean it’s not a copy of a “tape to tape” transfer that is inferior.
By combining the Match engine into Cubix for tape ingest / LTO migration, you can have complete confidence when it comes to purging duplicates – even down to a frame level! The solution partnership also advises which copy is the better video quality – Match will give the perceptual differences, and Cubix could orchestrate a rules-based workflow that would show what is identical perceptually but has metadata that shows it is technically better.
Fully orchestrated, highly configurable – and easily added to any migration workflow.

Use Case 3: Localisation / QC Versioning Control

Localisation workflows have become even more time-critical, thanks to the introduction of Netflix and Disney+ global releases. Needing to ensure content for 20+ languages is ready in time is hard enough, but when you already have talent in the studio dubbing – and that new file arrives called “Final Locked Proxy_v4.mp4” – chaos ensues. The director has made a change (again), you have no idea what the change is, and critically, you don’t know if the change affects the dubbing!

Today, this is a common issue faced by localisation teams globally, as well as in tight turnaround QC / compliance workflows – where, for numerous reasons, it’s not practical to get an accurate report from the editor on the changes between the last version and the new one. By leveraging some of the 160+ API integrations offered with systems such as Netflix© Backlot, OOONA, MASV and more, Cubix can not only automatically acquire and process the new source material, but by employing the Match engine, can identify “to the frame” the changes in seconds. Displayed on simple timelines in the Cubix Halo portal, producers can quickly see the delta in versions (even reviewing multiple together at the same time) to quickly and accurately understand the impact.
No manual eyeballing and panic viewing – just frame-accurate, fully assured comparisons that take the stress out of time-critical content reviews.

Together, Snicket Labs and Ortana Media Group provide a seamless route from orchestration to optimisation, ensuring that media assets are not only managed and provisioned effectively, but intelligently refined for long-term value, efficiency and sustainability.

ABOUT SNICKET LABS

Snicket Labs enables media organisations to unlock greater value from their video libraries by intelligently identifying duplicate and derivative content across extensive collections. Using proprietary fingerprinting technology, Snicket Labs analyses content at scale to determine what can be safely removed, what should be retained, and what delivers the greatest value. This helps streamline ingest, storage, discovery, and retrieval workflows, reducing redundant data, improving operational efficiency, and supporting sustainability goals by lowering storage demand.
